Acer has launched a new series of 15.6-inch multimedia notebooks with the Aspire 5 A515-52G. This replaces the Aspire 5 A515-51G series, of which we have tested two configurations: the Aspire 5 A515-51G-509A and the Aspire 5 A515-51G-51R.

There are a few differences between these two series. Acer has given the A515-52G a new case and has also made some changes to its insides: The A515-52G has two memory banks while its predecessor had only one (with 4 GB of soldered-on RAM). On top of this, our current test unit is equipped with a brand-new Whiskey Lake processor. The two models share their graphics solution: a GeForce MX150.

Among the Aspire’s competition are the Lenovo IdeaPad 720-15IKB, the HP Pavilion 15-cw0003ng, the Asus VivoBook 15 X542UF-DM143T and the Dell G3 15 3579.
